Shelfed

Summary

Shelfed is a personal media journal for movies, series and books. It runs entirely on your device. We do not have a server, we do not have a user account system, and we do not collect, transmit or sell any personal data about you.

Data we collect

None on our side. Everything you do in Shelfed — the titles you mark as watched, skipped, favourite or watchlist, the optional first name you can enter to personalise share messages, and your filter preferences — is stored locally on your device in an on-device SQLite database. This data never leaves your phone unless you choose to share it (see Sharing below).

Third-party content providers

Shelfed displays metadata, posters and covers from two public catalogues. When you open or scroll the app, requests are made directly from your device to these services:

The Movie Database (TMDB) — for film and series information. TMDB may log these requests in line with its own privacy policy: themoviedb.org/privacy-policy.
This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
Open Library (Internet Archive) — for book information. Open Library's privacy policy applies: archive.org/about/terms.php.

Shelfed does not send any account identifier, advertising id or personal data to these services. The only information they receive is the standard technical data any web request contains (such as your IP address and device user-agent).

Sharing

Shelfed offers a "Share" button that opens your operating system's native share sheet with a short text and a public link to the title on TMDB or Open Library. If you have entered a first name in the app, that name is included in the share text so the recipient knows who is recommending the title. Nothing is shared unless you press Share and confirm sending in the chosen messenger/email app.

Analytics, advertising, tracking

Shelfed contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising, no tracking and no crash-reporting that includes personal data.

Children

Shelfed is intended for general audiences. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children. As no information leaves the device, no such collection is technically possible.

Permissions

Shelfed requests the minimum permissions needed to function (internet access to fetch titles, local storage to remember your shelf). It does not access your contacts, photos, location, microphone or camera.

Your data, your control

Because everything is stored on your device, you control your data directly:

Uninstalling Shelfed removes all stored data.
Clearing the app's storage in your device settings resets the shelf without removing the app.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change this policy, the new version will be published at this URL and the effective date above will be updated. Substantive changes will also be mentioned in the app's About screen.
